The Light Lives On: Celebrating 20 Years of Heritage Valley – The Indian School

Heritage Valley – The Indian School celebrated its 20th Annual Day on 30th November, 2025, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable events of the year. The theme of this year was “The Light Lives On” and every performance beautifully reflected this spirit.

A Legacy of Compassion and Values

The theme “The Light Lives On” held a special significance this year. At Heritage Valley, light has always stood for knowledge, kindness, and guidance. This Annual Day beautifully captured the idea that true light does not fade; it continues to inspire, shape, and lead, long after its source is gone.

This sentiment was especially meaningful as the programme honoured the memory of Mr. Y. K. Gurwara, the school’s late Director. His philosophy of education placed children, teachers, and parents at the heart of every decision. He believed that learning should be joyful, meaningful, and rooted in strong human values. His approach transformed Heritage Valley into more than just a school—it became a nurturing space where every child is encouraged to grow with confidence, empathy, and curiosity.

The light he ignited has not only remained—it continues to shine brightly through every student, teacher, and initiative at Heritage Valley.

Dignity in Presentation

The programme opened with a quiet sense of respect and gratitude that immediately drew everyone’s attention to the significance of the occasion. Guests were received with a disciplined Guard of Honour, followed by the School Prayer that brought the audience together in a shared moment of reflection. The Heritage March, carried out with steady steps, coordinated movements, and focused expressions by Classes VI to X along with Scouts and Guides, did more than showcase drill skills—it visibly echoed the school’s belief that discipline, unity, and responsibility are at the heart of its culture.

Expressions of Purpose

The cultural segment beautifully showcased the creativity and holistic spirit of our students, turning the stage into an extension of the classroom.

  • Diverse Performances: The School Choir delivered harmonious performances in both English and Telugu, reflecting our commitment to embracing multiple languages and voices within one shared community. These songs did not just entertain; they nurtured confidence, sensitivity, and respect for diverse cultural roots.
  • Joyful Learning: Fun Dances, presented by students across wings, were carefully crafted to carry positive messages and thoughtful themes. By allowing children to explore ideas through movement and storytelling, we show that important lessons about cooperation, empathy, and resilience can be learnt under the stage lights just as meaningfully as they are at a desk.

A Year of Enriching Experiences and Achievements

The Annual School Report for 2025–26 highlighted a year filled with enriching academic and co-curricular accomplishments. One standout achievement was the successful Science Fair, where students presented innovative projects that demonstrated their curiosity and critical thinking skills. This event exemplified the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering a child-centric environment where learners are encouraged not only to absorb knowledge but to actively investigate and contribute creatively to their fields of interest.

The India Formation: Unity in Tradition

The India Formation: Unity in Tradition The much-cherished India Formation, a tradition established by Mr. Gurwara himself, once again became a highlight of the celebration. This striking visual of students coming together to form the map of India not only honoured his vision of unity and collective effort but also served as a living testament to the values he instilled—teamwork, pride in heritage, and community spirit.

Commitment to Continuity

The speeches by the Guest of Honour and the Director emphasised the importance of resilience and the relentless pursuit of excellence within the school community. They highlighted how each generation is entrusted with carrying forward the principles of integrity and compassion that form the cornerstone of the school’s philosophy.

As Heritage Valley – The Indian School moves confidently into its next decade, the guiding light of Mr. Gurwara continues to inspire every student to grow into a thoughtful, confident, and responsible individual. The Annual Day 2025-26 was not only a celebration of milestones but also a strong foundation for the future, filled with promise and continued dedication to holistic growth.
